High Resolution Images of Old Hertfordshire Post Cards

The Library, Lockers Park School, Hemel Hempstead

This blog makes it much easier to handle large digital images and make them accessible from the main web site and this had been done with the new post card images of Shenley and Holy Cross Church, Sarratt. If you visit the Shenley and Holy Cross pages on the main site clicking on the appropriate thumbs will provide full screen images, or larger, of the cards. These enlarged images will take time to download if you don't yet have broadband - but should normally be adequate to produce at least A4 sized prints for framing.

In future blog posts I will be making such large images available whenever the post card or engraving is out of copyright and I have a copy of the original. In addition I will be happy to provide such larger images for pictures already on the web site. Tell me which pictures already on this site you would like to see enlarged and I will include a high resolution image in a future blog - with longer term access on the main web site. (Remember that if you like the service donations to the site's chosen charity are appreciated.) The images may be reproduced elsewhere for non-commercial purposes (in print, on CD or online) as long as the source is clearly identified as the hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk web site.

Update (February 2013): A list of the latest high-resolution post card images is now online. Scroll down the picture menu to get to the page where the card is shown, and then click on the image to get an approximately full screen image. (In most cases an even larger image is available on request. The latest picture is shown on the main site home page - together with a link to the list.
